Simon Rosser was born in Cardiff, South Wales in 1968 and studied law in London and the College of Law in Chester. He currently works as a personal injury lawyer.
My first writing experience, if you could call it that, came from my love of horror and sci-fi movies. When I was about 10 years old, Saturday night would be horror movie double bill night. I lived for Saturday nights and the movies, even though they would scare the pants off me!
I’m talking about all the Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Vincent Price films – vampires, monsters, mummies and werewolves. Well, I loved them so much; I kept scrapbooks of all the films I saw between 1979 and 1981, and still have them to this day. I’d spend hours drawing a little picture of the film and appraising it – the writing part!
Fast forward 30 years and I decided to put pen to paper again, this time by writing the A-Z of Global Warming, after watching Al Gore’s documentary An Inconvenient Truth back in 2006. Not quite a horror movie, but perhaps mankind’s modern day monster – the creation of carbon dioxide! I spent 18 months researching the subject, with a view to writing a book to simplify and clarify the issues. The book is suitable for anyone wanting to get the facts on this complex, confusing subject. The information contained in the book comes from multiple sources, including NASA, NSIDC (National Snow and Ice Data Center) NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association), The WWF, IPCC, Stern Review on The Economics of Climate Change and other important sources.
In 2010 I started TIPPING POINT, my first fiction novel, which follows protagonist Robert Spire – an environmental lawyer – as he has to deal with a sinister group involved in the mysterious deaths of two climatologists. TIPPING POINT is essentially an action-adventure thriller and was released on Kindle and paperback in June 2011.
My next thriller, IMPACT POINT is on the way, scheduled for an early 2012 release. Again following Robert Spire as he embarks on another fast-paced adventure-thriller. I’m slowly going back to my childhood when it comes to storytelling…not necessarily vampires, or werewolves, but certainly thrills, twists, turns, suspense and adventure…Enjoy!
When not working as a personal injury solicitor or writing, you’ll find me travelling – skiing and scuba diving if I get the chance, dining out and socialising with friends and colleagues, reading thrillers, watching movies – especially thrillers, Sci-Fi, and anything space related, and if any time left, keeping fit!
Anyone interesting in fast-paced thrillers with environmental/scientific themes will hopefully enjoy reading my books. Please send me a message to let me know what you think, or if you prefer, follow me on Twitter or visit my website – http://sirosserthrillers.com
